ProtPTX sells WISP compliance as an ongoing service to tax preparers, CPAs, EAs and bookkeepers. There are two parts to it, and the second is the one that matters most.
The two parts
A one-time tailored setup
We build a Written Information Security Plan specific to your firm's actual devices, staff, software and vendors. Not a generic template with your name in the header.
Ongoing monthly checks
We monitor for regulatory changes, prompt required updates, and keep the firm continuously audit-ready as staff, systems and vendors change.
Who provides the service
ProtPTX LLC
Protection Protocols, operating as ProtPTX, is a Massachusetts limited liability company. The service is delivered by the company under the terms published on this site.
We do not publish staff biographies, headcount or a founding date, and we do not claim credentials the company does not hold. What the service does is set out in detail on the How it works page, and the limits are stated on this page.
What ProtPTX does and does not do
Stated plainly, because in this market it is often not.
What we do
- Build a firm-specific Written Information Security Plan from your intake
- Document your real devices, staff, software, vendors and data practices
- Monitor for relevant regulatory and guidance changes
- Prompt the plan updates your changes require
- Schedule and remind the annual review
- Organise training records and vendor oversight
- Maintain a dated compliance activity log
What we do not do
- Guarantee legal compliance, or promise any regulatory outcome
- Prevent breaches, or act as a security product
- Provide legal advice
- Act as your law firm, accounting firm or managed security provider
- File anything with the IRS or the FTC on your behalf
- Determine what the law requires of your specific firm

The standard this site holds itself to
- No figure appears on this site that was not retrieved from a named source or supplied as our own price.
- Regulatory references name the rule or publication so you can read the source yourself.
- We do not publish testimonials, customer logos, customer counts, ratings, review scores, certifications, media coverage or partner claims that we do not have. Where you see none of those on this site, that is why.
- Features that are not built yet are labelled as not built, rather than shown as if they run.
- Comparisons describe approaches generally available in the market. They do not name competitors and do not quote competitor pricing.
